Re-elect Nobody

November 29th, 2007

“One who loves his country and zealously supports its authority and interests” is the definition of “Patriot” in Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary. If this definition is valid, and I believe that it is, then many politicians can no longer wave the banner of patriot while they spew out hate filled rhetoric against the national interest and ignore the Constitution, which is the heart of our national authority.br /br /I suggest that most of the 535 members of the US Congress are solidly “Non-Patriots”. Their self-serving, elitist actions and the vile words spoken on both sides of the asile prove repeatedly that they are no longer supporting the interests of our nation and, therefore, of the people who elected them.br /br /Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi lead the pack with their anti-war, anti-troop rhetoric. These Non-Patriots and their ragtag supporters from Code Pink and a href=”http://moveon.org/” target=”_blank”MoveOn.org/a have been branded as traitors by many of all political stripes. Their contempt for our troops is obvious anytime that they are not with a soldier and in front of a camera.br /br /So, what about those under the GOP banner? With the long list of criminal charges on everything from accepting bribes to sex offenses, they are not exempt from scrutiny. They also joined Democrats in draining off billions of our dollars for special interest earmarks. Certainly the Republicans have not pushed to grow our armed forces to a size (about 3 times its present strength) where it can sustain the current operations tempo without wearing out our military. Nor have they been overly concerned about caring for wounded warriors and veterans.br /br /I’m considering marketing a new bumper sticker, “Re-elect Nobody.”

Happy Thanksgiving to all those proud to be an American

November 23rd, 2007

All countries have their holidays and seasons to celebrate their uniqueness, when their citizens take justifiable pride in their country’s achievements. Thanksgiving is America’s Day, the time when all Americans get to celebrate the achievements of the most successful society in human history. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving will be bleak for America’s native-grown America-haters. Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for being American. This is the day we celebrate the goodness of our country – the moral goodness, the moral decency of American institutions, American history, and the character and culture of the American people. No whining and moaning about what happened in the past. Think that America-haters can do this? Ask any you might know if they agree that:br /*America is, today, the least racist nation on earth (to disagree, another country must be named and accurately described with less racial turmoil and animosity).br /*Americans are the most charitable and generous people on our planet; no other people or country comes remotely close.br /* Americans enjoy more religious freedom than any other nation.br /* The form of capitalism practiced here has created more wealth for more people than any economy in the world history.br /* The selfless courage of American soldiers has brought more freedom to more people throughout the world than those of any country in history—and our country has asked for nothing in return.br /* Western Civilization, of which America is the prime example, has brought incalculable benefits to mankind, compared to which its blemishes seem negligible.br /The terrible problem America-haters will have in agreeing with any of these statements, and thus be thankful for America on Thanksgiving, is that they can’t really celebrate being American, for they feel guilty and embarrassed about it. I love America and am proud of being an American. I am embarrassed by the way so-called leaders in Washington are abusing our soldiers in combat and after their service, but the goodness of American has prevailed through worse—and we remain the bright spot in the world. God Bless America.!

Funding our Troops in Combat

November 21st, 2007

I truly can not believe that our Congress is deliberately refusing to fund our troops while they are in combat!!! Does anyone think that this fails to encourage our enemies? Can this fail to discourage our troops? Having lead soldiers in combat in Vietnam, I can affirm that discouraged soldiers are more likely to make the mistakes that can cost lives. And our Congress not only doesn’t care, they’re actually happy about this?br /br /Please contact both your Congressman and US Senators. Demand from them a bill without any pork in it that funds our soldiers in combat. No delay; no politics; no pork. Just the support that our troops deserve. Anyone we’re paying to be our representative in Washington who doesn’t immediately reply with a resounding statement of support (followed by action) should never be re-elected again.br /br /What a disgrace.
