Now that we know who the two Vice Presidential candidates are, we can look at what they bring to the tables. Both have a son who is in the military. The Biden’s oldest son is the attorney general of Delaware and is a JAG officer in the Delaware National Guard. Palin’s oldest child enlisted in the active army infantry a year ago and deploys to Iraq next month. Both families seem to have values that encourage military service. Senator Biden’s long suit is the US Senate; he’s been there since he was 29; he’s held many important positions there, but has zero experience as an executive. Governor Palin has served as a mayor and a governor but has zero experience as a legislator. Both have served our nation honorably and well. It seems that, at the VP level, this is a battle between the ultimate insider and the ultimate outsider. Of course, the real choice is who we would have as president.
Vice Presidential Candidates
August 30th, 2008Nuclear Russia is a nuclear threat
August 18th, 2008All the talk shows are going on about the election, Obama vs McCain. However, they’ve ignored the most revelent thing to happen in decades–Russian agression. Russia not only invaded the country of Georgia and is not living up to thier signed agreement to pull out–but they have threatened Poland–with a nuclear strike. A Russian general officer told Poland that if they go ahead with their plan to have a US anti-missile system installed on Polish soil, then Poland is subject to a response–up to and including a nuclear strike–by Russia. The anti-missile system being installed in Poland is a part of a system to control/contain rogue states, like Iran. However, Russia is now clearly a rogue state. Dealing with Russia and Russian agression is now at least as important as is dealing with the Mid-east. Nuclear war is now a real possibility again!
Obama and the Pearl Harbor Bomb
August 8th, 2008I continue to be amazed at how little anything military has penetrated the mind of Senator Obama. He was raised in Hawaii. Most Hawaiians and many Americans know that on 7 Dec 1941 the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor (in Hawaii). Many, many Japanese planes dropped bombs and torpedos on the US Pacific Fleet and the military installations ashore. That ushered in the US involvement in World War II. The war ended when the US dropped an Atomic bomb first on Hiroshima and then on Nagasaki–63 years ago right now.br /br /Senator Obama recently referred to when “the bomb” was dropped on Pearl Harbor. If only one bomb had been dropped, we probably wouldn’t have entered World War II.
