Obama and lawsuits

July 30th, 2009

I’ve written and talked earlier about the lawsuit initiated by Major Cook who suggests that President Obama is not a native born American, is unlawfully serving as president, and is, therefore, a domestic enemy of the US. Not surprisingly, there is now all sorts of new activity in that area. It’s quite likely that much of the recent (and future) activity is either baseless or lemmings following someone else’s idea; so, I don’t take the abundance of challenges to Mr. Obama’s citizenship to be evidence one way or another. However, to name a few, a number of veterans have filed their own lawsuits and, it is reported, the the Kenyan ambassador has reported that Mr. Obama was born in Kenya. The fact that a veteran (or anyone) files a lawsuit does not mean that their claim is true–neither is a report that any ambassador said anything.br /However, the pressure is building on Mr. Obama to produce a letigimate birth certificate from the State of Hawaii. It is pretty obvious that someone from Mr. Obama’s staff knows if a genuine certificate exists. If it doesn’t it would not take an Einstein to figure out that someone is busy creating one. Now the challenge to the stability of the republic is not if Mr. Obama will present his birth certificate–he certainly will at some point. The question is: will it be a fake?br /Oh, what tangled webs we weave, when first we practice to deceive.

Coast Guard Week

July 30th, 2009

We’re in the middle of Coast Guard Festival here in West Michigan. Grand Haven is Coast Guard City USA and their annual celebrations are absolutely first class. The celebrations will end on 4 Aug, the Coast Guard’s birthday. Frontlines of Freedom’s principal guest on the 1 August show is the Commandant of the Coast Guard, Admiral Thad Allen. Much of what the Coast Guard does is preventive, so it’s hard to give credit when something doesn’t happen. But the brave men and women of the Coast Guard do a great deal to protect our nation. We all owe them our thanks.

Toys and troop safety

July 27th, 2009

Here’s a darned good use of technology to accomplish the mission and reducing the risk to our troops. Launching an unmanned aircraft by throwing it in the air might not sound too technologically advanced, but with surveillance equipment and auto navigational systems it could be the difference between life and death. This aircraft, known as a “Raven,” is operated by 2 soldiers who use it as an “eye in the sky” around the base. Once the Raven is airborne, the troops need only to control take offs and landings, while the aircraft does everything in between on its own. The Raven monitors situations on the ground and sends a live feed back. Rather than sending soldiers into potentially dangerous situations, the Raven can be sent instead.

Members of the National Guard and Military Reserves

July 26th, 2009

I’ve spent the past few days at a conference for ESGR, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. Lots of folks who are familiar with the military know nothing of the ESGR. Reserve component troops face a real conflict–they have their civilian job on which they depend to earn a living, and they have their military obligation which can take them away from that civilian job for a day or a year. There is a law that protects the military member and ESGR is a volunteer group who works for the Department of Defense to help the military folks know of their rights and responsibilities–and works with the employeers to keep everyone out of trouble. Employeers who are extra helpful to their military employees can receive awards and special recognition–but only if their employees nominate them. There are also orientation activities to help bosses without military backgrounds understand what the military does–but to reach them it takes the military member to invite them. So, if you or someone you know is a member of the Guard or Reserves, please check out esgr.mil and help your employer help you.

The end of Obama’s presidency?

July 23rd, 2009

A US Army major, Stefan Cook, received orders to Afghanistan. Cook believes that President Obama is not a native-born American citizen—and the US Constitution requires that presidents be native born citizens. All President Obama has to do is release his birth certificate, which is said to be in the possession of State of Hawaii officials—but he hasn’t been willing to do so—neither, incidentally, will he release his college records.br /Cook filed a lawsuit stating that since Mr. Obama can not legally be the US President then he can not legally order any military person to do anything. I fully expected that Major Cook would be told to obey his orders or face a court martial. Of course, a court martial would permit Cook to demand to see Mr. Obama’s real, official birth certificate.br /And this week Major Cook got…. his orders revoked—he’s not going to Afghanistan. Cook’s attorney says that now any service member may refuse any order by simply questioning Obama’s legitimacy. Could this be the beginning of the end of this administration? Stay tuned.
