Mexican President Felipe Calderon received praise from liberals for falsely claiming Arizona’s new immigration law uses racial profiling, but that wasn’t the only baloney the Mexican president peddled during his state visit.
He said we needed to renew the federal Assault Weapons Ban that sunset in 2004. His justifications for this were all garbage. ‘If you look carefully, you will notice that the violence in Mexico started to grow a couple of years before I took office in 2006,’ Mr. Calderon said. ‘This coincides, at least, with the lifting of the assault weapons ban in 2004.’ Mr. Calderon’s claim that 80% of guns used in Mexican crimes come from the US is totally false. Most weapons seized in Mexico have traceable serial numbers that show they come from other countries.
It’s unacceptable for President Calderon to come here as our guest and make up facts to blame us for any Mexico’s many problems. To me it was worse to see the Democratic House and Senate members jump up and give him a standing ovation. But it’s all a part of the Obama mantra that America is the source of all evil.

In response to the dangerous situation along the US-Mexican border President Obama has mobilized some national guardsmen. Unfortunately, these soldiers have no authority to do anything but look and report–and there aren’t enough of them to make a difference. Come-on, Mr. President. Let’s protect America and Americans–let’s seal our border.

In his campaign literature, Calumet Park, IL, Mayor Joseph DuPar claimed that he was awarded four Bronze Stars and a Congressional Medal of Honor.
It’s worthy of note that this Chicago suburb became the first town in America to name a street for President Obama. “We want to stamp his name (on the community),” Mayor DuPar said. “I haven’t heard of anyone else doing this. We’re a little community, but we
may be the first out of the gate” to name a street after the president.”
DuPar did serve his country, but research conducted by the Chicago Tribune discovered that the mayor received a Vietnam Service Medal and four Bronze Service Stars–but not Bronze Star Medals–which are awarded for meritorious service or valor. Nor was he awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
Abe Wilson, who was an opponent of DuPar’s in last year’s election, was the first to question
these honors; he was hit with a defamation suit by DuPar. Wilson is a retired Marine. Now it’s DuPar who is in trouble–with the law.

Everyone knows that Iran can have weapons grade nuclear material within a couple of months. All the “big talk” about UN sanctions is total BS and will have zero impact on Iran.
The bad news is that our closest ally in South America, Brazil, and the Muslim anchor of NATO, Turkey, have both agreed to refine nuclear material for Iran. In the past year we have absolutely proven ourselves to be a totally unreliable ally and those who used to be our friends are now looking for someone more reliable. It’ll get worse.

Today is graduation day for the Class of 2010 at West Point. The ceremony is over; President Obama was the speaker. I wasn’t there, but one of my good friends was. Here are his comments.
Well, the Class of 2010 is graduating and President Obama just completed the commencement speech to the class. A beautiful day. The speech had been billed as a major policy speech. It was not. The first half of the speech was good and recognized the history of the Academy and its graduates and the challenges to the Class of 2010 as they prepare to join the Long Gray Line of those before him.
But then to my ears there was nothing about policy, only platitudes. There was his admonition that the US must be true to our Constitution and that the US cannot lead the world if it loses its economic strength. But he did not make new policy, reinforce old policy, make strong comments about the challenges of Iran and North Korea and lack of Chinese and Russian support to quell those challenges. In short, it was a watered down speech full of platitudes that will not ever be billed as a meaningful marker of our time.
It was disappointing to my ears…
