We’ve all seen TV coverage and read about the terrible flood going on in Pakistan. Indeed, it’s headline news all over the world. One of the strangest reports is in the 13 Aug edition of the British newspaper, The Independent. The headline is: Why Is The World Unmoved By The Plight of Pakistan?” The article begins with the photo of an old woman’s tear-filled eye.
Missing in the entire article is any mention of how the US Navy immediately rushed aid to the victims. The US provided $84 million in flood relief, including meals prepared to Islamic dietary requirements. Of course, the paper didn’t mention the total absence of any support from any Islamic nation, either. So I guess that’s balanced reporting.
