Reading the Constitution

Since the members of Congress, like those of us in the military, take an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the US, it’s a darned good thing that they read it regularly–and publicly is a good idea. The problem lies with the concept of the constitution; the founders provided a way to change the document–amendments. And amendments were not easy to achieve. One could logically conclude that the founders meant what they wrote and didn’t want it easily changed–and changed only by the clear will of the people. Liberals see the Constitution as a “living document” that can be changed at any time to meet the needs of the “current culture.” To liberals nothing in the constitution is sold or sacred–all can be changed by interpretation. Our Constitution has been so wildly interpreted that we can no longer call our nation a Constitutional Republic.
