Terrorist groups as well as foreign governments have increasingly attempted, with some succes, to purchase sensitive dual-use and military technology from American companies–this in a US Government report.br /Taliban fighters in Afghanistan have managed to escape US attacks and carry out successful attacks, thanks to American state-of-the-art military technology.br /It seems that our Government Accountability Office (GAO) set up front companies and fictitious identities and was able to buy night-vision scopes and special infrared patches that our troops wear in Iraq and Afghanistan. These infrared patches are used to help soldiers distinguish the enemy from their fellow combatants.br /It’s good to know that “Buy American” slogans are working; but we’d better be sure that we don’t provide it to the bad guys. We need both American companies and our government to install checks that this doesn’t happen.
