Rep Buck McKeon, the senior Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, hammered away at the administration’s national security policies the other day. “A reluctant wartime President, I fear, abstains from using words like victory and winning—because he is more committed to ending the conflicts we’re in rather than winning them,” he said. br /br /And failing to win is a loss in anyone’s book; why wouldn’t a winning terrorist organization follow our retreating military back to America and attack us here? The answer, they would. We need to win–and to win, we have to want to win.
