The Spanish-surnamed mayor of Los Angeles published a letter on behalf of the city council asking citizens to boycott the State of Arizona because that state has passed a law requiring their law enforcement members to check for proof of citizenship each time they stop a person for any reason. This is a quite reasonable law considering the huge problem illegal immigrants are in the state; and the state law is totally consistent with US law. It is certainly not racist.
The good mayor, who is clearly trying to make a racial issue out of this, apparently isn’t too bright. It seems that 25% of the power used by the city comes from, yes indeed, Arizona power companies. Arizona wants to know if he wants to renegotiate those contracts.
I grew up in the greater LA area. My advice to the folks who live there now is to get rid of your racist mayor.
