General Jack Keane, former Vice Chief of Staff for the US Army was interviewed on NPR about the military response to the Bengazi, Libya, attack. The General makes the point that our CIA and military forces did their jobs and were not restricted in doing so.
There are some noticeable gaps.
• He doesn’t include the absence of the use of USAF aircraft then located in Lybia or nearby. There are reports of one of the now dead former Navy SEALs lazing an enemy position. He wouldn’t have done that if there were no aircraft overhead.
• The nearest available reaction forces were in the US and Europe; this when everyone knew it was 9-11, the Islamists had plans to make trouble then, and Bengazi was horribly under defended?
Somewhat peripherally, is the question of why FOX News was alone not included in the CIA briefing to 50 news organizations about this event—especially since FOX has been the media outlet providing most on the Bengazi disaster.
Anyway, here’s the 9-minute interview.
