North Korea fired artillery at South Korean troops conducting an exercise, killing two. The So Korean’s returned fire and scrambled some jets. So far nothing else has happened that we know of. No Korea is preparing for old dad to pass the reins of power to a very young son (like in a monarchy). Shooting is a great way to get the media’s eyes off of anything. Not sure what is going on here, but it’s at least reasonable to think that this could be the beginning of another war. So the US has to decide what we’ll do if it does get to open war. We definitely don’t want to get into a war we aren’t committed to win.
