Finally the president of Afghanistan has agreed with the UN evaluation that he does need to face a run-off in his bid for re-election; it seems that some of the vote counting was, well, irregular. Mr. Obama’s Defense Secretary Robert Gates says that the Obama administration needs to decide on an Afghan war strategy without waiting for a government there to be widely accepted as legitimate. This has to do with saving American lives. Currently, the White House is balking at ordering more troops to Afghanistan; they’re currently using the disputed election crisis as their excuse-du-jour. The real problem is that they don’t know what they’re doing, and there are no leaders anywhere in the administration. It’s a simple decision. If we’re at war then do what it takes to win it. If we’re not at war then bring all the troops home—and get ready for the terrorists to come here.
