Helen Thomas, bigot

Helen Thomas is the dean of the White House Press Corps. While I have not often agreed with her position on things, I have respected her record and some of her insights.  She will turn 90 years old in a few months. Last week she demonstrated what can happen when one stays in the job too long.  Her comments were so out of line and inappropriate that one only hopes that she will step down before her loss of mental ability become even more obvious.   “Longtime White House scribe Helen Thomas caused more than a few eyebrows to perk up when video surfaced on Friday of her declaring that Jews should “get the hell out of Palestine” and go back to Germany and Poland.”

This comment, alone, is so obviously anti-Semitic and factually wrong that she should be made to step down.  From Wikipedia, the Israel population (2009) was 7.5 million. 16% (1.2 million) are Muslims so they can stay and live peacefully under the Palestine (Hezbollah?) rule. 21.6% (1.23 million) of the Israel Jewish population were born in Europe and the US; where would she send them?  What does Ms Thomas plan to do with the 3.93 million native-born Jewish Israelis?

And where is the main-stream media in all of this; their silence speaks of approval. Where is the condemnation? Had a conservative White House correspondent made this same statement is there any doubt that they would have been tarred and feathered? What ever happened to the concept of media that report the facts to we the consumers—instead of loading us down with their biases and conclusions—disguised as facts?

We veterans fought for, among other things, freedom of the press.  Did the men who charged ashore ond D-Day, 6 June 1944, really want to put their lives on the line for the freedom of the press to manipulate us?
