In late April the Japanese Ambassador to Iraq visited with Dhi Qar provincial leaders to discuss ways of administering Japan’s $5 billion aide program within the province. Specifically discussed were potential oil field development and construction/renovation of health facilities. It was a very productive meeting.
It’s good to see our allies stepping up to help Iraq become a stable democracy. Note that there was zero Japanese interest in sending military assistance. Question: Are our Japanese allies greedy cowards who want the fruit of the Iraqi conflict without paying any price in blood—or are they wise, seeing as how the US has clearly announced timetables for our withdrawal from the area—yet the terrorists do not?
