Misuse of Marines

General James Conway, Commandant of the Marine Corps, has made it clear that he doesn’t like the fact that the Marines have become a ‘second land army’ in the current war. He wants to return them to their expeditionary, door-kicking roots. The IED resistant vehicles that come with being abr /second army are much too heavy for the lighter, traditional Marine role. They need to be eitherbr /able be landed amphibiously or by helicopter. He’s looking into buying some lighter vehicles.br /br /The good general is right. The US of A only needs one army. It should be the US Army. Using marines out of their specific role only allows them to say that they fought in the conflict–good for morale and history, but not a wise use of their primary focus and abilities.
