New field equipment

I appreciate the fact that the services are always looking for ways to make the soldier’s job easier and more effective; here’s another example. The Army is now fielding new field gear intended to lighten the soldier’s load and increase their mobility during missions in Afghanistan. The equipment included new body armor, boots designed for the mountainous terrain, lighter sleeping systems and knee pads. Here are some comments from some soldiers in the 2nd Bn, 12th Inf:br /–The boots are better suited for the terrain; they have a better grip and form to the rocks better—fewer blisters.br /–It’s lighter and helps you breathe easierbr /–It allows you to be more agile and also alloys you to place your pouches so you’re not all bunched up.
