The news says that the last combat units are leaving Iraq. That’s supposed to be good—but not sure for whom. The friend of a friend whose son in stationed in an infantry brigade in northern Iraq says they are in daily contact with the bad guys, and, as far as we know, the brigade isn’t scheduled to leave anytime soon. And, lest you think that our diplomats will be unprotected now that our combat units are going—they’ve hired 7000 contractors to protect them. Wanna guess who makes more money—an army enlisted guy or gal versus a “contractor.” Our purpose for pulling out of Iraq was…what…again?
