There have been lots of little things that have indicated that, at least in the Army, our senior officers are not as good as our troops deserve. The 4-star commander of US Africa Command, a couple of years ago, was relieved for spending lots of official dollars on his own and his family’s enjoyment. Most recently, there’s GEN Allen’s and GEN Petreaus’, shall we say, Indiscretions. More seriously, because it’s costing our nation the lives of our troops, there are bad tactical decisions being made by generals who seem to be worried more about doing things that will be well thought of by their superiors than doing the right thing to beat the enemy. One Army colonel was so upset that he wrote a letter to the Secretary of the Army. It really got COL Harry Tunnell in trouble. It’s long but well worth the read. http://www.michaelyon-online.com/stunning-letter-infantry-colonel-communique-to-secretary-of-the-army.htm
