We’re in the middle of Coast Guard Festival here in West Michigan. Grand Haven is Coast Guard City USA and their annual celebrations are absolutely first class. The celebrations will end on 4 Aug, the Coast Guard’s birthday. Frontlines of Freedom’s principal guest on the 1 August show is the Commandant of the Coast Guard, Admiral Thad Allen. Much of what the Coast Guard does is preventive, so it’s hard to give credit when something doesn’t happen. But the brave men and women of the Coast Guard do a great deal to protect our nation. We all owe them our thanks.
